A state-by-state breakdown of sales would be interesting to see. Check out this summary from Feb 2021: "Sales were up 56.1 percent over a year ago to 9,267 vehicles sold. During its first full month of sales, Ford moved a total of 3,739 Mustang Mach-E models. Nearly 70 percent of Mach-E orders are from competitive brands, and just over one-fifth of sales of the EV was from California"

Some interesting facts:
  • 70% conquest sales (new to Ford) from competitors. No predominant manufacturer per-se, but many prior EV owners switching.
  • 23% previous Mustang owners
  • 80% primarily charging at home
  • MMe accounts for 12% of all fully electric vehicles sold Q1
  • 6-day supply level, vs 60-day preferred supply level. Indicator of demand.
  • Ford currently still filling initial $500 pre-orders, with more orders coming in daily. doesn’t expect any stock units hitting dealerships any time soon.
  • still building dealer demo units mixed in with customer orders, a few dealerships haven’t gotten any Mach-E deliveries yet.
  • top 10 states buying MMe: California, Michigan, Texas, Florida, New York, Illinois, New Jersey, Washington, Arizona and Colorado
  • more than 90% orders from Ford.com as compared to dealership orders.
  • most MMe purchasers as well educated about the car before purchase.

More interesting is the large drop in Ford Fusion sales - 36,937 in 2020 Q1, 7,889 in 2021 Q1. I wonder how many Escapes and Explorers sold in 2021 Q1 were of the hybrid version?

Total electrified US sales: 25980
F150 hybrid: 7176
Mustang Mach-E: 6614
Other electrified vehicles: 12190.

They stopped making the Fusion last year, these are the few remaining being sold.

They just started selling the Escape PHEV again, production was halted months ago while Ford was investigating a potential battery issue.

Also worth noting these numbers don’t include the estimated 3000 FCTP demo Mach-E units on dealer lots right now. In 3-4 months time, these will be for available for purchase.
