About half the time I get into my car (2021 MME Premium), its a hassle to get connected to Apple Car Play. Has anyone figured out how to make the connection automatic? I always seem to have to select from a list of my whole family's phones (even when I'm the only one in the car) and then hit the connect button, and many times the connection is not successful. Anyone having similar issues or have any solves? Thanks!

My experience is that 95% of the time, CarPlay starts automatically for me (over Bluetooth) within 3 to 10 seconds. I seem to recall there was a setting to make it automatic play.
I am not sure what the issue is when it does not auto play. Last time I had this issue, there were no other phones or fobs within range. It didn't start automatically, it didn't start when I selected my phone and pressed the CarPlay start button, but then it started when I just connected my phone to Bluetooth connection. It's a bit quirky in my experience.

100%. Same problem about 45 mins ago. Frustrating. FWIW, i had the same problem in my 2018 ecoboost fastback with CarPlay. Must be something about Ford’s implementation of CarPlay with Sync? I dunno.

I have had this issue more times than I can count. Or the car using the wrong profile for settings. Sometimes I can never get it to change at all even after turning off and turning back on. No other fobs or registered phones even close. So so frustrating. By far and away my most hated part of my GTPE is the UX and the processor speed on the command module. A lot of times it takes about 5 actual seconds to switch from say the map to the entertainment which does not sound like a lot but when driving is a life time and when you are doing it several times over the course of a drive it is painful.

Am the only MME driver but had 3 phones over the period of ownership. i deleted the other 2 Bluetooth connect options. This has improved my experience to connect.

There are also times I just shut off my iPhone and restart it to connect with Waze. The waiting to synchronize is stressful for sure

I had problems connecting my Iphone via bluetooth. I took it to a dealer that I trusted and they said it only works plugged into the USB cable. I was fine with that solution.
One day I entered the car and forgot to plug the phone into the USB, and damn if the audible book started playing.
It now works either way. I stopped by the dealer and showed the service guys, so they wouldn't give out bad advice again.
I assume using USB cord will keep the charge on the phone, so I continue to use it.
I can only surmise that an update fixed the problem.
