BlueCruise OTA update

So we’re officially past the end of 1st Quarter 2022 when Ford’s latest promised release date of BlueCruise OTA for Mustang MME and F-150’s was supposed to happen. That’s at least the third missed date from Ford. Has anyone out there received the OTA BlueCruise update? I’m not talking about late 2021 or 2022 models that came with BlueCruise from the factory, but those of us who have been waiting since our delivery for the update. BlueCruise started shipping from the factory in vehicles built after July 7, 2021!

I got a letter (Program 21G01) from my dealer the last time I went in for updates that says:

”Customers of early-launch 2021 F-150 or 2021 Mustang Mach-E with Ford Co-Pilot360 Active 2.0 prep package will receive:
  • Ford Power-Up software updates delivered over-the-air (OTA) that include the BlueCruise hands-free driver assist feature starting in the first quarter of 2022. The updates will also include some new features while accelerating the pace of future features and enhancements. OTA software updates could take several weeks before the feature is fully functional.”
  • Or, the option of complimentary dealer installation of the BlueCruise hand’s free driver assist feature software in the first quarter of 2022 (Dealer software installation takes 2 to 8 hours).
  • One (1) year of complimentary BlueCruise service once the hands-free driver assist feature is active and functioning.”
I’ve called Ford Customer Service and talked till blue in the face but still no BlueCruise! All they will say is that it’s scheduled for 1st quarter 2022, and that registered owners will receive an email indicating that the BlueCruise update is coming. Nobody seems to know what is going on.

I’ve been to the local Ford Dealership, and they have no idea what is going on either. They say that they have no way to do the install until Ford makes the update available to them.

After you call Customer Service they want you to take a 2 minute survey. The First question is how much do you Trust Ford? I answered 1 out of 5. All they do is lie to us!

Anyone else as frustrated as I am? Love the car, but having to take to the dealer about once a month to fix all the glitches, but that’s another rant.

Not really. It will be ready when the engineers say it is ready, not when marketing says it is ready. No point in calling customer service. I'll test it out when it comes but I'd rather be in control of the car myself, not have a computer do my driving. Except for PAAK I don't have the glitches you are talking about so I'm not complaining.
I scheduled 21G01 with my dealer, I’m going in tomorrow.

I‘m sort of frustrated with the process, but I’m also not entirely surprised. Just more kind of disappointed.

I believe all of this was literally announced Friday. So it’s not terribly surprising that it’s news to a lot of people at the dealership. My understanding was that they would be pushing the update to all the cars over the air by the end of quarter two. Based on the early access members we know that’s possible.

Let me know how your upgrade went.
I got my car back today, but I’m not sure what’s going on. I couldn’t get it to engage. I can’t remember if I saw the option in the settings. All updates went fine and I’ve clearly got the updated SYNC. I also don’t see it listed in my connected services.

I remember someone saying it took a day or two after the OTAs so I’m wondering if it’s something like that.

I didn’t get time to play with it due to my schedule, I’ll look harder and fiddle tomorrow before I reach a conclusion.

Yes, I’ve heard too that it can take up to 48 hours to fully update and be ready to use. Please keep me posted on your progress if you can.
Thanks, Dwayne

Did you ever get it working? I took my vehicle to the dealership for the upgrade and now I do not even have lane centering anymore
Yes. When I took it back they were able to finish everything because the new update to FDRS was out. I’ve got full hands-free Bluecruise and everything else. I’ve got to say, it’s kind of terrifying. But I’ve got it.

I finally got my Blue Cruise installed too. It works great, most of the time. It sure seems to shut off and back on a lot. I wish it would change lanes with the blinker like the Tesla does, but overall I’m happy with it. Still don’t know why it took 9 months for Ford to get it to me.

That mirrors my experience. They supposedly updated it and returned it with no Lane Keep Assist. I took it back and got the same result. A second dealer found an error code and said they resolved that. Still no Lane Keep Assist, though. We just returned from a 1,600 mile round trip to New Orleans. Our fuel costs were about 1/5 of what our Mini Cooper would’ve required, so as Carl Spackler (Bill Murray) said in “Caddyshack”, “I’ve got that going for me.”😃

Just read your OLD message - same thing happened to me October of '22! Other wrinkle is - Ford THINKS I have BlueCruise installed, and the clock has started ticking on the 1 year complimentary subscription. Car is great - but the trouble getting BlueCruise to work - and losing lane centering - is frustrating.

I find your comment Quite Amusing! If you are driving a Mache (which by the way, I love) you are virtually sitting in a computer. It’s like steering your iPhone! These things are computers.

O, I love my Mach E. I've now had Blue Cruise for 6 months, but it is not a feature I need badly. I love the adaptive cruise control as it allows me to rest my right leg. All my 18 updates have been OTA….the less time in the dealership the better.
Most updates have been successful but just Monday Power Up Update 3.6.2 wiped out my charge settings and it charged to 100% instead of the 80%….not the first time an update did that. I do not enjoy having to reset Settings back to to what I previously selected. I think some the general public is not ready to drive a computer that they frequently have to trouble shoot settings. They just want to get in the car, hit the start button, put it in Drive and go.

Yes agree, then, at least for now they might not want to be driving the Mache.

I found that 3.6.2 didn't wipe them out, it just ignored them. The next day they worked fine.

Yes, it did not wipe the max charge setting out, but just ignored them. I have not charged since that so I will watch it closely next time I charge.
