I'm not into camping in the car but you got my interest so I checked it out. I folded down the back seats and they are still 4 inches higher than the cargo area so you would need some padding or something to ease that transition. I'm 5' 11". When I laid in there with my legs straight, my head ended up between the 2 front seats - but my shoulders did not touch the seats. So it looks like it is probably doable but I'm not sure how comfortable it really is.

By the way, my feet are size 11. With the hatch closed, I could still have my feet pointed straight up with plenty of room - they were pretty much right at the back of the cargo area.

The back floor has two positions. The upper position makes the back floor and the seats the same height. BUT, that back floor is not designed to take 200 pounds of pressure, you'll break the supports.

Thank you! I am thinking that stowing gear below the rear floor could support it in the upper position. I will go to a dealer and take a look if a demo car is available. I have yet to drive one but I am looking forward to it.

I am a prospective purchaser. With the back seats folded down, can a 5'10" person sleep in the back?

For sure. I AM 5'9" and I purchased the air mattress that fits perfectly over the folded down rear seats. I also bought the SUV Tent that is on the Ford Accessories web site. I love it! Going camping, using an Electric Tent site is the best. Plugged in, you have electric, heat, music, air-conditioning, and free "fuel." The tent is a great size for an added cot/sleeping bag if you have others joining you.

. Here is the exact tent I have. Pops up in about 10 minutes.

A followup question regarding camping in the back of the MME: could someone measure the minimum height of the opening of the hatch from the floor of the cargo area to the top? I. e. how much room is there to go into the sleeping area from the hatch opening?
Thanks so much!
