Have had the Mach E for about a year now and love the car. Just had my 1st major issue that still dealing with. My wife took the car with my daughter to DC from Pittsburgh for a weekend soccer tournament. Stopping at an Electrify America the 1st charging station she received a charging fault. After several attempts the charging took and they went for a bite to eat. When returning the car charged to 70% and faulted. She continued the trip assuming it was the station. She arrived at the next station and the 1st couple attempts the same thing….charging fault. After 3rd try she charged enough to get to the hotel in DC. The next day she went the charge, time and time again getting a charging fault. The lights at charge port were blinking red indicating from what I could read an internal GFCI fault. She drove the car to the closest Ford dealership. Needless to say my car is now stuck in DC (3.5hrs away) and I haven’t received any feedback on when it will be ready. I do have to give a shout out to dealership that loaned here an $80k Ford Expedition for the balance of the weekend and to get her home. If anyone can offer up same issue or what it was that would be great! Thanks

Could you let us know what the issue was and how it was resolved?

I took delivery of a 2023 MME Premium 48 hours ago and I have a similar issue. Connected the car at the charging stations (SemaConnect) at my work. Per FordPass it charged for 3 hours and 48 minutes and then stopped. When I got to the car the LED ring next to the charge port of the car was all red. The instrument panel in the car showed an error of "Electrical system drain". Then another message of "Service required". Then another message of "Service vehicle soon". Within the FordPass app it shows errors of "Powertrain Malfunction/Reduced Power" and "High-Voltage Battery Warning".

I was able to get the car started after several attempts of pushing the Start/Stop button. I drove the car to the dealership and it's been there overnight and I expect to hear from the service department later this afternoon.

Sorry to hear of your troubles. My car was stuck in DC for about 3 weeks. 1 week was do to the tech getting sick and there was nobody else qualified to work on the car

Ultimately they replaced the Secondary On-Board Diagnostic Control Module A (SOBDM). Also replaced the Charger Battery (FMC LJ9Z 10B689E)

My wife never had issues starting the car, just couldnt get it to charge without a fault. The lights at the charging port were solid red. There is a difference if they are solid vs blinking red. One indicates a ground fault sensed that could be the charging station, where the other indicates an onboard ground fault.
Good luck and keep me posted. Would like to know what they find.

Hello! Send us a private message with your VIN and the name and location of your local Ford dealer. I’d be happy to see what I can do to assist with this charge concern. Thanks!

Update on my situation: The car has been at the dealership since December 29th. Yesterday their service department manager said there's an issue with the secondary onboard diagnostic module that now must be replaced. The part is coming from Michigan (I'm in California) and they have no idea when it will arrive but hope to have it by Friday.

On a separate but related topic, I purchased a new Ford 48a charger and per Ford tech support the charger was either double tagged (station ID/ access code is a duplicate of an existing charger that is located in Canada) or I was sent an EU model that is not tagged properly. Long story short Ford is shipping me a replacement charger.

For the charger issue, I started with Ford tech support on Friday and was initially transferred to 5 different departments before reaching someone that helped me. The customer support agent then scheduled a con call for today with someone from Ford 's back end support and that's when they determined a replacement charger was in order.

All in all the experience of a brand new car has sucked. The misses and I have been eagerly waiting for the car and now the entire experience is shadowed by tech support issues and the fact that I just handed over a large sum of money for a vehicle I can't yet drive. I hope the car is fixed soon and there are no issues for a long time, otherwise I won't be able to dispel the idea that has been circling in my brain that Ford sold me a lemon.

Update:
The dealership received the part on Thursday but they will not have the car ready until Tuesday. The service manager said the job is complicated requiring the entire battery pack to be removed in order to replace the sensor.

The charger issue has no update, Ford is still in the process of sending me a replacement charger.

Lastly, in today's mail I received the first statement from Ford Credit. Super cool to have to pay for a new car I don't have and barely drove before it broke. I'm bitter because of this experience, I didn't expect to have issues with a new car within 48 hours after receiving it.

Final update:
Dealership repaired the car and returned it to me late 1/12/2023. I haven't driven it much, maybe 100 miles but so far so good. Charged it at the stations at my work without issue. I'm looking forward to issue free experiences, the car is sooo fun to drive.

Regarding the charger, I received the replacement and will have it installed this week.

I recently had a charging problem with the time it took to charge. I took it to my dealer and it was fixed. (No fault showing)
Don't expect a fast fix, The procedures they have to follow to ensure a fix is correct, causes them to wait 1.5 hours for all modules to go to sleep, then an additional 12 hours until they release the car.

Thank you for taking the time to write all of this in detail. I've had my car only 6 weeks and had 2 powertrain warning and also the car thinks it's still plugged in. The first time it happened with only 500 miles on it It cleared itself and then it happened again's at 1000 miles. I took it in - it's the SOBDM. No idea when the part is coming and I'm in a rental car because they don't have loaners. And although the Service Manager said they will reimburse me it's only partial. Your message gives me hope that all will work out.

I recently experienced a similar error, charge fault while charging at a Sema Connect L2 charger. When I returned to my vehicle and turned it on received powertrain and high voltage battery faults. The vehicle would not charge when I returned home and I brought it in to the dealer. The dealer said a bad charger caused the issue, cleared the codes and sent me on my way. Then it happened again at my home charger, dropped the car off this afternoon, awaiting a call on Monday for next steps.

Keep us posted on the status. Hope they find something and it works out. I am still having issues with mine and will be calling the dealership this week. I am thinking the issue is the charging port itself. When charging at home if I turn the charging amps above 36amps the car will do one of 2 things: 1. Start to charge then I’ll get a message on the app that the car is plugged in but not charging. 2. Receive a charge fault and the red flashing lights. At this point I can not trust to take the car anywhere far from home where I have to use a high voltage charger. I’ll post after I work with the dealer on what they find.
