So Ford will switch to the Tesla charging port on their 2025 models. Guess they're realizing the need for a reliable charging infrastructure.
Doesn't say that. Says they will have the port. No mention of removing CCS or J1772.So Ford will switch to the Tesla charging port on their 2025 models. Guess they're realizing the need for a reliable charging infrastructure.
I'm curious about this, as I recall last year tesla had said they were opening up some dc superchargers to al EVs, I believe they started doing in europe. Just curious what effect this agreement will have on that.During the Twitter conversation between Farley and Musk it's my understanding that the second Gen Fords will have the NACS port and in early 2024 all existing vehicles will be able to access the network thru the Ford Pass app. and a connector.
That was 3,500 Superchargers, in the US, to all non-Tesla's, by end of 2024. Testing at locations in NY and CA right now.I'm curious about this, as I recall last year tesla had said they were opening up some dc superchargers to al EVs, I believe they started doing in europe. Under the current system, in order to use a Tesla charger, the sign on is thru the Tesla App. Under the agreement one's Ford Pass will give access to the chargers, same as EA.I'm curious about this, as I recall last year tesla had said they were opening up some dc superchargers to al EVs, I believe they started doing in europe. Just curious what effect this agreement will have on that.
As RickMachE said, it now appears that owners of current Mache's with a CCS1 port will benefit from both:Will the Tesla DC charge stations have the CCS ports for the 2019 - 2023 ME?
In response to the Infrastructure Law in 2021 and passage of the Inflation Reduction Act in 2022, to get access to the funds to assist them in building more SuperChargers, Tesla has been testing out adapters provided automatically on the charger itself, which they call "Magic Dock", at a handful of existing Tesla SuperCharger stations in NY and CA. In the future, this may be a method used to provide CCS1 cars access to their SuperChargers. Yet they also could build V4 SuperChargers with cables that have both NACS and CCS1 plugs.I thought the Tesla Chargers were going to have an adapter already on them? Except for the existing chargers
The current plan Ford announced appears to be that model year 2025 Mach-es will have a built-in NACS (Tesla) charging port and access to all SuperChargers, AND, in Spring 2024, CCS1 to NACS Adapters will be made available (and software updates) to enable all Ford EVs that have a CCS1 charging port to gain immediate access to the existing V3 SuperChargers for DCFC charging. So if you have an older Mach e it would require another Tesla adaptor correct?
Im wondering how the short charging cable that Tesla uses will reach my Mach e ?Ford EV Customers To Gain Access To 12,000 Tesla Superchargers; Company To Add North American Charging Standard (NACS) Port In Future EVs.
