Electric cars seem to be the flavor of the times. Ford is now planning to launch its first electric vehicle in India, the Mustang Mach-E by 2021. It will come through the CBU route, and hence could be an expensive vehicle. However, it will get GST benefits for being an EV.

The international entry-level model features a single motor that connects to the rear wheels. The options are a 75kWh battery along with a 258hp engine or a 289hp motor with a 99kWh battery. Both these motors produce a maximum torque of 416Nm. It is not sure whether the Indian version will come with both the motor options.

As far as Mustang Mach-E mileage is concerned, it delivers in the range of 450km and 595km respectively. The EV displays an excellent pick-up of 0 to 100kmph within 8 seconds.

The Ford Mustang Mach-E also comes with an all-wheel-drive option. This vehicle draws its power from a 75kWh or 99kWh battery paired with a 258hp or 337hp motor. These versions deliver a peak torque of 582Nm while being capable of accelerating from 0 to 100kmph within 7 seconds. The Mustang Mach-E top speed is 179kmph.

The Ford Mustang Mach-E bound for India will have stiff competition by the time it launches in 2021. The Audi e-Tron is due for launch early in 2020, whereas the Jaguar I-Pace could launch sometime later.
