I am getting the car regardless. I will keep my fingers crossed on the rest. I ordered a premium the night of the launch and have a low number, and now am thinking I should have ordered a FE to make sure I got it in 2020, There are no additional incentives in OH. Maybe some others will cancel and give me and gdgills a chance.
Ordered two...will be cancelling the First Edition

Who would be OK with ordering a car without being able to test drive it or see it in person? I am undecided what I am going to do in regards to color and features. Right now I reserved a 1st Edition in Red but have since changed my mind in order to take full advantage of available rebates in California for EV's under $60,000 MSRP.
I definitely wouldn't. I also want to drive it and choose between two colors that I want to see in person first. And I don't want to risk wasting a $500 deposit to be able to make those decision by having to order first.

Good luck on seeing your two colors in person. Unless you are waiting for a 2022 model year, the odds of seeing multiple in one dealership are very low (20,000 cars to US total, >2000 dealers). Your best bet will be brave souls who take their Mach Es to Mustang rallies (I'll be one of those).

I read posts by several people indicating that they might be/will be canceling a FE model. Anyone have thoughts or insight into what Ford will do such as reduce the number made or reopen to others on the reservation list?

The "EV specialist" at my selected Ford dealer (where I've bought my last 2 Fords) was clueless. I had to educate him. I reserved a Select in November, so he did contact me then to thank me for the order, so that was a plus. When I saw someone else post that the Select had an optional package with heated memory seats, I called and emailed him about it. He got back to me the following day, but with a halfassed answer - he had forgotten to check if it was memory seats and so made up the answer that "no it can't have memory seats". So, on a whim I figured I would try some other dealers during the shutdown to see if I should convert my registration with them. I went to a couple of dealers' websites and in the chatbot asked about packages for the Select - both chatbots responded that someone would check and get back to me. A month later, and still no answer to my question - one dealer sent me an automated email that "your quote is being prepared", and I heard absolutely nothing from the other. The one that responded I replied repeating my question. Still nothing. I intentionally didn't mention that I had already reserved with another dealer, figuring they might be more motivated to sell me. nope.
Does the Select come with memory seats as a standard item?

From what I have in my document, the driver seat got electic control and the passenger side got manual control. Nothing about memory seat.

Maybe Ford should have a lottery for non-FE reservation holders that are interested in switching to the FE.

Not according to any of the charts available on ford.com which haven't been updated since november. Memory seats are listed as optional, and heated seats appear to be unavailable. The order of columns below is: select, route 1, and premium:

They removed it from the configurator, and had a separate notification on the main mach e page in a couple places- which are still there since they have only done 3 minor edits to the US page since December. As far as I recall they added a payment estimator, updated the section where it talks about 10 minute recharge rate in the ER battery, and altered the color choices for the GT to include grabber blue in place of the gray. Although they announced 2 more colors for the GT more than 18 hours ago, the GT configurator doesn't have them yet. I guess the one guy at ford capable of editing the website was off today.

Tim, Thanks for your very prompt and informative reply to my inquiry. This is a great Forum and I've truly enjoyed the interaction as well as the plethora of information some of which clued me into the X discount which may turn out to be a money saver.

As reservations are being cancelled may give the opportunity for new inventory options to become available that were previously not available. This will be determined by your reservation number which established customers placement in line. They would have opportunity to update when the order bank opens and reservation detail are entered. Reservation placement in line would determine this. There are no guarantees that the desired model will be available.

That's GREAT news as long as this person is the right person. I have a relatively low reservation number, so I will keep my fingers crossed and keep this guy's information handy. I will bet you dealers will be clueless about this possibility, but we will see. Thanks gdgills!

You handle the details when your number comes up, the order submission is done through the web (or the dealer if you prefer). Maybe there is a FE in your future...

I truly don't know if my reservation number is low or not. The numbering scheme is mysterious to say the least. I know I ordered mine before the end of the LA car show which I believe was the day the ran out of FEs.

I am guessing, but I believe the numbering started at 10004000 and moved forward from there . . . I made my reservation within minutes of watching the launch live, and my number ends in 4247. I have not seen a number below 4000, which is why I believe it started there.

Might be interesting to know what numbers were already issued when Ford closed out the FE model
