The HVJB issue is sufficient reason for the CR rating. Plus the way they are handling the issue is unacceptable.
How many cars actually had a problem with it? I'm assuming you are referring the recall that was fixed with the update over the summer? I don't think my evaluations of things align with theirs. From my point of view Ford is still learning and they do seem to be putting their full strength behind making this a success. They put out an amazing car so they get a few free passes from me. Full disclosure, this is coming from someone that has had zero issues in 17,000 miles. My only complaint is that I don't get to take it apart until 150k mile transmission oil change.

I got the recall notice in the second batch, about a month after the first recall to some owners. Don’t know what the delay was, maybe the recall was expanded to all early cars as a precaution.

At first, the HVJB recall worried me. After driving without issue the past few months, I now charge and drive like I used to. No problem so far (keeping fingers crossed, just in case).

All I know is, I decided to buy the Mach-e well before any awards or publication recommendations came out. I expected there would be issues since it was a first-year model with all the new tech. No regrets here.

Thanks everyone for all the input! My 2022 Grabber Blue Premium AWD should be at the dealership 12/1, and I am excited to pick it up and hopefully be driving it this weekend! Also, since my car was built 10/24/22, my understanding is that it won’t have any of the major issues that affected the reliability score, as the newly assembled cars (after June 2022) have the improved HVBJB correct? Essentially this is the end of the production year for 2022, so all discovered issues have been addressed. I know it won’t be perfect, but hopefully pretty darn close!

Just under 10,000 miles on my 22 Premium Ext RWD, took delivery in April 22. No issues, love the car. Previously had a 2017 Bolt EV, fine car (until the battery fire risk), but no match for the Mach E, which is a far, far superior car in all respects. I was a lifetime GM customer until the Mach E showed up. Gamechanger. No regrets.
Couldn't agree more. I just love my car.

We couldn't agree more either! We are so glad you're enjoying your Mach-E!
I would really like to enjoy my car but it's been disabled since October 14th with a failed HVBJB. Ford calls me twice a week to tell me the dealer is still working on it. I went there yesterday to check it out. It's been sitting in the lot so long the calipers are rusted.

Hopefully your battery is properly taken care of, and it was somewhere near 50% charge when the car went down. I know I wouldn't be happy with it sitting still outside so long, I feel bad when I leave it out of the garage for one night.

My guess is this is what throws off the ratings, the fact that when something does go wrong it takes a very long time to fix. They probably have a average downtime calculation that factors into the rating.

If it was built before June of this year, do not take delivery until they replace the High Voltage Battery Junction Box. They issued a software recall to add a warning before complete failure so you could get it to the dealer. Mine failed over a month ago. It is still at the dealer with no ETA.
No dealer is going to replace the HVBJB before it fails, because Ford won't pay for it. And the date is 5/25/22 and forward.

Did your dealer order the part via the COPIS system?

As for the calipers, I'll call that hyperbole, but that assumes you did it on purpose. ;) The Mach-E rotors will rust in a day if they get wet. It's fine. Simply drive, shift to N, apply brakes, repeat. Rotors are fine.

End of May, June, I'm not going to quibble over four build days. This is a major problem. Especially for the GT and Premium models.

I got the BEV to order the HVBJB on the day of diagnosis, October 25th. They charged it to 100% and parked it. They received the HVBJB on November 2nd. My Securialert indicates that October 25th was the last time the door was opened.

I realize that cleaning the rotors is an easy process. This process can only be completed with wheels that move. It's just another flag that they haven't done squat.

So your issue is quite clear. Part arrived 27 days ago. Dealer isn't working on it. Nothing to do with Ford Corporate, beyond that they can't get the dealer to do it. Ask the dealer WHY AREN'T YOUR PUTTING THE PART IN?

My dealer currently has one tech qualified on EVs for anything beyond updates. Depends on their queue. The dealer is only accepting appointments from people that bought the vehicle there. They say the classes to get certified are far and few between.

I just saw that Consumer Reports removed its recommendation for the Mach-E based on very poor reliability scores just published from owner surveys from 2022. It is now a 1 out of 5 for reliability

I am supposed to take delivery of a 2022 Premium Mach-E in 2 weeks but now
am having second thoughts given these new rankings. I have a 2022 Premium extended range with 3500 miles. With the exception of a cooling pipe issue when I first took delivery, which was fixed by the dealer after about a week because of a part shortage, I have not had any further problems. Car drives like a dream.

What do others think of the Mach-E now having the lowest reliability score?

I love my car too. But as to reasons why Consumer Reports may be doubting the Mach E,s reliability — here’s another example of a festering SYNC issue that brings into doubt Ford’s resolve to address early purchasers’ problems. OTA Updates Don't Work - Dealer No Help 10 Months Later
My car’s issue started while Recall 22B08 was being addressed in Oct 2022. After two more visits, APIM replacement was diagnosed in early December. The APIM required to resolve it has been backordered since then. No one at the dealership or at Ford Customer Service has any inkling of when the part may become available!
