Opening frunk

I think it’s very clunky to have to use the manual release lever inside my 2022 MME to release the frunk. I recall finding some way to release the frunk using the large display screen. Yesterday I tried to find it again and after searching for 15 minutes gave up. I’m guessing that the latest “update” has either hidden this very well or eliminated it. Does anyone know of a way to unlatch it using the display screen or the phone app?

Also a tip—I find it convenient when I go to the grocery store to leave the frunk hood in the down position but not latched after I’ve opened it. Then when I return with my groceries I don’t have to fuss with opening it again and can just lift it up. I keep the car locked and only have grocery bags in the frunk.

I believe all the 2022 MMEs have the ability to open the frunk through the app or display screen. The on screen frunk release button should be on the settings screen that allows you to change your drive modes.

Thanks! I’ll check it out
Just get a OEM Lightning fob and program it as a third key. It will open the Frunk with 2 clicks.

The Ford Pass app opens the Frunk, rolls down all 4 windows etc

I never use the frunk, so I never looked for the screen access.
I did use the keypad on the door to open it. I read about it here.
Just add 78 to your number that opens the car door.
It’s on the first settings screen that has the picture of the car and the drive mode settings. In the upper right are buttons for frunk and rear hatch.

I find it amazing that Ford could do this with over-the-air updates. For a legacy company, that is remarkable.
Life is good.

Where is that in the app? I dont see a separate frunk or even trunk button!

You won't see it unless you setup PaaK.

On my app I have start, lock, unlock available and have used them. However, windows up/down and trunk/frunk are not lit up or showing as available. Do you know how to enable those features?

This is only for later models. I have a 2021... one of the first delivered. I don't have this option on the App, the screen or the door keypad. I must not have the hardware installed.

I received delivery on my First edition on March 5, 2021. i am thinking the dealer must have installed software to make it work. i can activate from keypad and bought a fob with frunk button, ebay, and can open frunk from that. programed fob myself.

Interesting. Got mine Feb. 12, 2021.
Must be something odd with the build dates. I got mine from the dealer on April 17, 2021 and I don't have the frunk option on the Ford Pass app either. Have the windows and the rear door but not the frunk.

Just want to clarify, I do not have it in the Ford Pass app. I can access it from keypad, code then 7/8, and also programed into a fob that has the button for the frunk.
I have a 2021 First Edition as well. Unfortunately I don't have the frunk button yet. It was something that was teased to be coming out for Day 1 cars, and still hasn't happened. I believe it should be doable given the emergency release in the frunk is a button, and not a manual lever like inside the cabin.

Like so many things promised, this is another one that has sadly not been delivered on.

All cars have the hardware - it's the same mechanism for emergency frunk opening if your battery dies.

You need a BCM update to activate the frunk on 2021 Job 1 cars. I got mine when the dealer installed a bunch of updates last year and I enabled the frunk release on the control screen using FORscan. (Just not in FordPass though)

The BCM update was not delivered by OTA. You can try to get a dealer to install it (they may charge you) or find someone who has the eqpt and license for FDRS.
I have a 2022 Mach E Premium. It came with a frunk button and a rear liftgate button on the main screen. Then they moved to the main screen. Now since one of the recent updates I cannot find either one anywhere on any of the various pages of the screen. The picture of the car on the main screen has also disappeared, and the manual refers to that a lot. Other than fixing this situation, the in car online manual should be updated with each update so it is correct!

Has anyone heard anything about the frunk button not being available in the app or on screen if you have a frunk with a divided luggage compartment?
