Phone as key issues resolved?

I set everything up to use the phone as a key, and also to link it to the vehicle for access to carplay. And here is the problem, which was posed 8 months ago or so…

Soo, my apple Car Play works great until I try and have my fordpass app open with the phone as a key enabled. Basically the phone has one bluetooth connection to the car, labeled Mustang Mach-e, and the phone as a Key creates a second bluetooth connection that is listed as a 5 digit number and Mustang. If I close the fordpass app on my phone then that connection does not initiate and all works fine, If I try and have the app open to use the phone as a key function then it goes crazy.

I have this exact problem. And what happens is the car says ‘no key detected’ and if I stop it, I have to start it with my backup code. That works but obviously is not a solution. It seems to be directly related to the two blue connections as I deleted my connection to the car, the one labeled Mustang Mach -e, and left the other — and now the phone works great as a key, but I can‘t access car play or my other phone functions. There have been other things written about this but I can’t find a resolution. Has there been any?

I also realize I can plug in my phone with a wire and or just just a fob and delete the phone as a key, but these are not good solutions. Appreciate any updates.

Generally, my PaaK works well, and the phone is all that I carry. However, first trip of the day often requires me to do one of the following. I unlock the MMe remotely and then the vehicle recognizes the Paak. If I use the door code on occasion I will get "No Key" I generally place the phone on the "Eye detection unit" shut off, then restart and it seems to then recognize the phone. These scenarios only occur if I haven't driven the MMe that day. Once I use the vehicle the rest of the day is OK on the PaaK

Same goes mostly for the PAAK for our Tesla. Wake it up in the a.m. (with the phone) before jumping in and everything runs smoothly. Don't wake it up and the car asks for the car key (credit card size card) to wake it up.

Hi there! Can you send us a private message with your VIN and Ford dealership name? I’ll look into this on my end. Thank you!

thx for the suggestions. I think that helps, but still odd that we get the no key signal when we have opened the car with the phone as key function. In any event, where is the ‘eye detection unit’?

Be happy to, and thx for the reply. But…how do i send you a private message? I am a bit new to the forum, so the answer may be obvious, but let me know.

I erased my PAAK, and reinstalled it, and added a mykey option in the car, and did a few other things. And it has worked with one exception the past two days. The exception is one time after it had unlocked with my phone, I got the ‘no key’ message, and maybe it was because I stuck my phone in my winter jacket, and so I took it out and motored on. And it seemed to be fine. Still, not sure how ’fixed’ it is.

It's the small 'screen' in front of the 'instrument' screen. I also use the dash or center console to place the phone any place that the sensors can read the phone pocketbooks and rear pockets not advisable.

Same with my PaaK. I also notice that the car is slow to recognize that I'm pressing the button on the car door if the phone is in my pocket. If I take the phone out of my pocket and hold it close to the button on the car door, the door opens quickly.

I have read so much about using a phone as a key.
My phone as a key works, but I would never leave my FOB at home.
Phones break, phones are finicky.
I paid over two hundred dollars for another FOB. I've never had to use it, but it brings me peace of mind.
That's my two cents

I had a strange occurrence the other day. I listen to audible books via car play when I drive.
The sound was too low, so I used the volume rotary. I got a message that volume was limited to 1/4 because I had a phone as a key. Why would they limit sound volume for that reason?
Well I went into settings and then vehicle and found a switch controlling volume was off.
Well I certainly didn't turn it off.
I mention this in case anyone has that same problem.
