Ford and all of the other legacy OEMs report sales data as delivery to dealers and fleet operators. It is therefore just a reflection of production. It's a shame they don't report retail sales which can only be estimated by tracking dealer inventory.

Hey Pat, so, dealerships literally buy the vehicle from Ford, correct? Is that why it's technically a "sale" from Ford's perspective?

No wonder, with the Federal credit and CA state credit, i effectively bought my MachE in 2021 for 34k. Best deal of all the EV's and it was Car and Driver's No. ! EV " The messiah".
Somebody must always be a topper, so here goes.
I always liked the Mustang gas car, but it was a little small inside.
When I read the Car and Driver issue, I had to have one.
I live in New Jersey and have a progressive governor.
In August 2021 I drove fifty miles away to buy a new red Mustang that I wanted ($43,000),
I got a state rebate of $5,000. No sales tax (worth $2,222).
I also got the full $7,500 IRS credit.
So I've been sitting in a 2021 Mustang Mach E for $28,278.
I sold my Prius Prime in August 2021 and made a profit of $1,000.
So that brought my cost down to $27,278.
