Had a few inches of rain over the last few days. When I opened the hatch today I had water running from under the close/adjust switch. Anybody had this problem?

If you want to ensure it sealed well you can hose water around and see if there is any wet spots inside. Is that simple? This is alarming. Has anyone else had this problem. I opened my trunk today and did not see the water, but then during the East coast storm my car was sitting inside the garage. If there is a leak prone area they should have this re-engineered and have existing cars fixed. Why would one have a hole thru the rear tailgate that can spring such a leak (not the first time Ford is building a car).
I have a Oct 22 and after two days of owning it is leaking terriblely, not impressed at all.Had a few inches of rain over the last few days. When I opened the hatch today I had water running from under the close/adjust switch. Anybody had this problem? View attachment 6069
I just picked up my Sept 15, 2022 built and Oct 31 delivery and it leaked 48 hours later like a waterfall, dealer said never seen this before. I see posts from 2021 that Ford knew about this issue, BUT still built mine in September of 2022 with the same issue. Common Ford, not your first rodeo, just horrible engineering!what are you asking? Have you experienced the leak? It doesn't seem to be at all common. I think the two people that posted on this thread are the only ones I've seen.
Gasket most likely out of place. Hi there. Can you send us a DM with you VIN and dealership info? I can look into this for you.I just received my 2023 Mach e a week ago and have experienced the same problem with water leaking out of the rear hatch handles when I open the hatch after a hard rain. The Dealer's Mechanic can't find the leak.
Hi there! Would you send us a private message with your VIN and dealership name and location? I’d like to look into this concern on my end.I’ve been dealing with this issue with Koons Ford in Falls Church VA for nearly a year. The 3rd party validator compNy is a joke. A buffer for Ford. Koons Ford has gone silent on me. I use a soft cloth flagshiip car wash. When I wash my car, water gathers, somehow, in the hatch itself, not the cabin, and continues to drip/run out if the top if the hatch, down the channels on the inside of the hatch when opened for like 20 minutes. The water makes its way under the rear glass and pools. I use compressor to blow it out from under the lip for about 10 minutes. It is a serious issue as water gathering anywhere inside metal isn’t good long term. It’s also damaging the paint on the hatch on that stupid little
ledge under the rear glass. It also makes its way inside by the taillights and inside the rear space.
I could use some help. If you can run it through a car wash then open the hatch immediately after and watch it drip from the top inside hatch (where it connects with the top of the car) and shoot some video, maybe we can het Ford to actually acknowledge the issue. And if they don’t do something then maybe we can. put Mach E in subject line and share video to cubbyfan84@gmail.com
I have the exact same problem (and water exiting the exact same handle) on my brand new 2023 MME.We just got our mache last week. Love it but went to open the trunk yesterday and actually have a similar problem. Water was pouring out of the handle on the inside of the trunk. This would be to the right of where your leak is. Calling our Ford dealer tomorrow. Have you had any updates on your issue? I didn’t see any gasket seals missing or anything. No idea how the water got inside the plastics. View attachment 6210
Did you have any luck? Just dropped mine at the dealership for same issue. Having a warranty claim less than 2 weeks after I paid $80K for this thing is not reassuring.I just received my 2023 Mach e a week ago and have experienced the same problem with water leaking out of the rear hatch handles when I open the hatch after a hard rain. Hi there! I can look into your Mach-E's leak concern on my end. To get started, could you please send a private message over with the name/location of your local Ford dealer and your Mach-E's VIN?I have the exact same problem (and water exiting the exact same handle) on my brand new 2023 MME.
Just a quick update. Dealer has had it for 48 hours +, they say the first tech couldn't find the source of the leak (although it sounds as if he was looking for a leak that drained directly into the cabin rather than into the rear hatch), and they are/were having the "senior tech" reassess the original tech's findings. I did provide them with the MME 21 service bulletin and asked that they check the taillight gaskets that were the cause of the 21 leak that drained into the rear hatch, and am awaiting feedback/findings.Hi there! 3 days and the dealership “can’t get the leak to repeat” after “spraying a hose all over it.” Yay, I get to drive around worrying about rain in my brand new car!!!! YippeeHi there! Same here. 2022 GTPE and its occurred a few times since I've had the car for about a year. We get a lot of wind and rain here and it's not every time. Also run through the car wash numerous times as well as my own pressure washer around the back. I think where ever it is coming from occurs when it gets dry and then first rain. Seems to be the case. Perhaps the rubber expands in the case of me and months of rain in the pacific northwest and then in the summer it dries over months and then first rain it occurs.3 days and the dealership “can’t get the leak to repeat” after “spraying a hose all over it.” Yay, I get to drive around worrying about rain in my brand new car!!!! Yup. I took mine straight to the car wash as soon as they handed it back to me (covered in hard water marks from testing the rear hatch) and couldn't get it to leak either. Either there was a drain that was initially plugged that is now clear, or there is a seal that tightened up after it was initially exposed to water. Either way, it doesn't make me 100% comfortable.Same here. 2022 GTPE and its occurred a few times since I've had the car for about a year. We get a lot of wind and rain here and it's not every time.
